Our History

The Atlantic Restaurant Group started in 2002 to serve a niche market of independent restaurateurs interested in selling their restaurants and the qualified prospective buyers they needed to complete the transaction. In that capacity, we facilitated the sale and leasing of restaurant space across Massachusetts.

Periodically, we would be asked to seek out a liquor license for a new restaurant or assist an owner in finding a buyer for their existing license. This was a challenging process that demanded a great deal of time and attention, so we began to consider alternatives to better serve our clients. The result was Atlantic License Brokers. Today we meet the liquor license needs of buyers and sellers throughout Massachusetts and the other states we serve.

Dan Newcomb, the founder of The Atlantic Restaurant Group and Atlantic License Brokers, has a family history in the restaurant industry. For twenty years, his family owned, operated and franchised Mug ‘n Muffin, a chain of 26 restaurants throughout the greater Boston area. After leaving the family business, Dan held high-level management positions in the hospitality and health care industries, and upon returning to the Boston area, served as the national recruiting director for Au Bon Pain with over 135 domestic units.

“We originally saw a need across Massachusetts in both restaurant sales and leasing,” explains Dan. “In turn, we uncovered the need many of our clients had to buy or sell liquor licenses. That process is complex, and we’ve become experts at helping our clients avoid many common but very costly mistakes to make the liquor license transaction efficient and effective. The result is the best price and fastest sale.”
